Of Wedding Bells and Football Tales

I went for a wedding on saturday. A very "different" wedding. Catholic boy weds "reborn" Christian girl (Well, its supposed to be another faction of the Church... that believes in doing outdoor weddings!)
The ceremony was Civil... held in the botanical gardens in the spattering rain. Bride and Groom huddled together with the minister and the band, to be declared united.... The rain provided no respite especially for those of us without umbrellas - and huddling under trees so far flung from the ceremony that we only heard whispered I do's.
The rain threatened to dampen the festivities and so the wedding was relocated 20 minutes into the ceremony to the reception venue
Family members said a few inspired words while the minister continued like an escapee from the loony bin for about 45 minutes. One of the bridesmaids collapsed (nearly)... i missed that cuz i was dozing from the sermon... Hubby and i decided to take some photo ops... The guys were totally discussing the upcoming football match... England vs. Portugal! Hubby snuck in a portable TV which kept the guys glued to the match and me trying a variation of evil looks to scare hubby into switching the darn thing off... It didnt work... So gave up and joined in...

Bride looked Beautiful groom looked relieved that someone knew what the score was... England Lost... Ha Ha!!! Brazil Lost too so Ha Ha again... serves those boys right! Food was yum... ate too much couldnt move later... when the party moved to the dance floor. Well I wasnt the only one who couldnt move... there was a doc on the dancefloor whose weird gyrations would have sent anyone trying them... straight to the hospital for a hip replacement!

Anyhow as the night wore on the Brazil vs. France match started... the boys once more, forgot they were at a wedding and concentrated on more important matters... Turned out more like a pub screening a football match than a wedding reception! Hubby was disappointed Brazil lost- he had the flag set up on the car to celebrate victory!!! Ha ha- (pure evil laughter)!!

A night to remeber- surely!!! Sweet moments for the couple and a huge doze of disappointment for the large gathering of England and Brazil supporters!

I'm glad cuz I'm rooting for the home team!
VIVA LA GERMANY!!!
